Flashforge Adventurer 5M Pro Update

After my initial review of the Flashforge Adventurer 5M Pro I wanted to revisit this 3D Printer and see what improvements there’s been!

In the initial review that you can read and see here, I mentioned some Wifi-transfer bugs where the levelling of the build plate was way off.

I hinted that these would be easy issues to fix, as it was quite annoying to have to manually start the print from the printer itself.

There were also some difficulties with leveling itself. I felt the sensor was way to conservative and wanted to level a bit off from the build plate.

Luckily both these issues have been solved in firmware updates as you can se in the update logs here.

The adventurer 5M Pro advantages

After using this printer for a while it’s very clear that the print reliability is extremely good on the generic, common materials. The presets in Flashforges Flashprint software works great and I never do anything except maybe increase or lower temperature 5-10 degrees depending on brand specifications.

The remote capabilities of this printer is remarkable. Specially if you de-activate the “auto-power-off” which would otherwise force you to awaken the machine before printing you next project.

The camera remote monitoring is fantastic and has a very high resolution and update frequency. Just watch this example.

Flashforge 3D Printers in your next farm?

As mentioned in the video, the Flashforge adventurer 5M series may be some of the best farm 3D printers right now. With a descent print volume, high speed and reliability together with extremely fast nozzle swaps and a great price. These are winners.

Specially the budget $299-399 Adventurer 5M can be upgraded with a $25 camera kit (to make it work like the 5M Pro without enclose and turbo-fan) could be a great value add-on for anyone who needs PLA/PETG or simpler materials in their farm solution.

The adventurer 5M Pro is of course a better option with enclosure and the turbo auxiliary fan, but it’s not always worth the extra money for a farm-user.

This is a crazy example of Adventure 5M being used as farm-machines over at Flashforge themselves.

Flashforge Adventurer 5M - The new budget king?

So unless you need to 3D print super large prints above 220x220x220mm or use 4-color 3D printing, the Flashforge Adventurer 5M could be a fantastic budget option for you.

It’s been on deals as low as $299 USD, but it’s currently around $349 (down from 399) but please use the affiliate links in this article to check out latest pricing. If it’s at MSRP, the discount code “SA5M” should give you at least $20 discount. For the 5M Pro, the code “SA5MP” should give you $30 off.

Again, if you want you can always upgrade the 5M with the $25 camera kit available here.
