The perfect wash and cure for 3D Printing

Anycubic has just released Anycubic Wash and Cure Max that looks to be the perfect wash and cure product for your resin 3D Printer. This two-in-one wash and cure station filters alcohol and reduced waste, while automating the whole post-processing process.

Resin 3D Printing Post processing sucks

It’s no joke that the top reason why someone isn’t getting into resin 3D Printing is the messy post processing. Resin sticks, drips and goes everywhere. The alcohol smells and you have to filter, spend time pouring dirty, less dirty and very dirty alchol everywhere.

When you’re done with that, you’ll still end up messing up your workarea while trying to UV-cure your model.

The Anycubic Wash and Cure Max looks to make most of these issues go away, and get more people into SLA 3D Printing.

The Anycubic Wash and Cure Max

Is a all-in-one product that both washes your model and cures it, in one process. Thanks to the clever combination of spray cleaning and detail dipping you first get a clean model, and then a full immersion to really get the last bits out. This however is just around 4L, and not the full volume of the machine. Which makes you wonder how some large hollow models might be fully rinsed.

Despite that, I see some great benefits with a machine that can automate the process, re-uses and filter the alcohol automatically.

Anycubic mentions a volume of 14,9L (300 x 165 x 300mm) but that refers to what size models fit inside. This covers most consumer resin printers full build volume inside, but make sure it’s compatible with your models and machine. The actual containers for alcohol are 4L.

Anycubic mention a less than 50ml loss of alcohol per cleaning thanks to the filtering, and that’s while still using less alcohol than other machines thanks to the rinsing/spray process.

Savings and costs of automation

The automation looks like a real nice feature here. With automated pumps, circulation and spray washing, an “one-click” cleaning to curing workflow this looks like the perfect accessory for anyone using a resin 3D Printer. Specially for smaller models and higher workflows.

However, the cost saving of using less alcohol and spending less time hands-one may have to weighed in with the use of consumable filters, to clean the alcohol. I havent seen what these cost or how easy they are to source yourself.

Still, the time saving of “only” having to worry about support material in the resin 3d printing post process is worth a lot for most users, specially those who run small print shops.
