Flashforge 3D Adventurer 5M Series with specifications

Flashforge are releasing a new Adventurer 5M Pro 3D Printer to compete with Bambu lab and Creality and promises 600mm/s printing speed.

If you haven’t heard, faster 3D Printers is the buzz right now. Thanks to new sensors, cheaper CoreXY frames and smart firmware (that they use or copy) manufacturers are actually getting good quality prints with high printing speeds.

Flashforge are entering this era with Flashforge Adventurer 5M Pro, which is being released september 1 2023, and prices revealed a few days after. In this article we combine the rumored specifications and price with confirmed and released information.

First of all, there are two versions. Adventurer 5M Series and 5M Pro. One enclosed, and one open. Similar to Bambu lab P1P and P1S philosophy.

Flashforge Adventurer series

Flashforge have had huge success with entry level Flashforge Finder and later upgrading to the Adventurer 3 series. The Adventurer 3 have been one of my all time favorites to recommend to complete beginners without a technical interest. The adventurer 3 Pro and 4 built upon that, but didn’t bring the same “bang for the buck” as they focused on larger build volumes and more features. They were still popular, but missed the bar when it came to cheaper alternatives.

Features of previous Adventurer Series 3D Printers

If we look at the Flashforge Adventurer 4/4 Pro and the Adventurer 3 Pro 2, the adventurer series is all about enclosed, ready to use 3D Printer. With heated beds, simple-to-swap-nozzles, these really should be more popular machines for beginners.

Chamber control (fan/filter), camera monitoring, easy-to-remove build plate and nice touch screen are also huge additions.

I suspect the Flashforge Slicer and plasticky feel have been some of the drawbacks before. I know my Adventurer 3 have had some rattling and just not optimal bed levelling as well.

The new Adventurer 5M Pro features

Based on now confirmed and released information (that I had sourced from accidental reseller releases before product launch) we know that the Adventurer 5M Pro will have enclosed build volume while the (rumored) regular 5M is open.

The design is truly an Flashforge Adventurer in it’s core, but with a new all-metal frame and a feel that is much more rigid, which really is what a fast 3D printer needs. The CoreXY Design is also almost a must for success in this genre.

An early rumor mention a very large printing volume of 300x300x300 mm, fully enclosed, however now we know this is incorrect and the build size is the smaller, more disappointing 220x220x220mm.

Among Adventurer series upgrades we also get a 110°C heated bed with PEI Build plate that is removable.

The enclosed chamber was rumored to be activly heated up to 50°C as well, but it may just be a indirect heating from the heated bed, and sensors keeping it at (or lower) than 50°C. Anyway, this enclosure and dual-filtration (inner/outer air circulation) helps with “engineering” materials print as well.

Sensors and connectivity

For it all to work, we assume there has to be some vibration sensor to calibrate the machine, and remove ringing. A flow-sensor should also be present.

Although most other 3D Printers offers it, Flashforge have a good track record of both local network and cloud 3D printing. This could be a deal breaker for some. Being able to print locally and through a normal USB stick is expected.

A color 4,3” touch screen and Wifi + ethernet and USB helps with options for connectivity.
